Typical scamming examples

Things to keep in mind:

  1. Asking you for money — Any request to pay a registration, portfolio or ‘agency membership’ fee before the work. In a real job, the client is the one who pays.
  2. Asking for codes or passwords — No client, and no one at ModelGo, ever needs the verification code sent to you by SMS, or your password.
  3. Urgency and pressure — Phrases like ‘the offer ends today’ or ‘someone else is waiting for this spot’ are designed to make you act before you think.
  4. Leaving the platform — Insisting on moving to WhatsApp or Telegram before a booking is confirmed, usually to get away from monitoring and records.
Example 1: A fake agency asking for a portfolio fee
Global Star Agency

Hi! We love your photos and would like to put you forward for a major campaign with an international fashion brand. The fee is SAR 15,000.

Thank you! What's the next step?

You just need a professional portfolio shot by our approved photographer. The fee is SAR 1,200, paid by bank transfer to our account today to hold your place.

Can't we do all of this through a booking on the platform?

Sorry, no. The campaign is confidential and places are limited. If we don't receive the transfer within two hours, we'll choose someone else.

Why it's a scam

This chat combines several red flags: a tempting fee with no audition, a ‘portfolio’ fee, a bank transfer outside the platform and a tight deadline. Real agencies don't ask you for money, and ModelGo never asks for bank transfers off the platform.

Example 2: Someone asking for your SMS verification code
Account Verification Centre

Notice: your account will be suspended within 24 hours because of missing verification details.

That's odd, my account was verified a while ago. What do you need?

We've just sent you a 6-digit code by SMS. Send it here so we can confirm your identity and cancel the suspension.

The text I got says not to share this code with anyone.

That's just an automatic warning and doesn't apply to us, we're the support team. Hurry before your account is closed.

Why it's a scam

A verification code is the key to your account; whoever has it can sign in and pretend to be you. The ModelGo team never asks for verification codes or passwords, and never sends suspension threats through chats. Report the account right away.

Example 3: A ‘casting’ that insists on moving to another app
Luxe Perfume Casting

Hello, we're looking for new faces for a luxury perfume ad, and your profile is a great fit.

Sounds great. Could you send the casting details and the contract here?

This platform is slow. Add me on Telegram and I'll send you everything there.

I'd rather stay here until the booking is confirmed.

Fine, but first send me some private photos from your phone, not your portfolio. The director wants to see the real you, and it'll stay between us.

Why it's a scam

Pushing to leave the platform before a booking, then asking for private photos that ‘stay between us’, is one of the most serious warning signs. A genuine casting relies on your portfolio or a video audition on the platform, and never asks for private photos. Don't send anything and report the account. If you're threatened or blackmailed, contact the police on 911 or through the Kollona Amn app.
