How to avoid scammers
Most people you'll meet on ModelGo are serious professionals looking for genuine work, but scammers sometimes try to take advantage of new talent's enthusiasm or a client's trust. The good news is that most scams follow familiar patterns, and they're easy to spot once you know what to look for.
Ten tips to protect yourself
- Always keep chats, bookings and payments on the platform.
- Never pay a fee for registration, a portfolio or joining an ‘agency’. Real clients pay you, not the other way round.
- ModelGo will never ask for your password or OTP code, so never share them with anyone, whoever they claim to be.
- We will never, under any circumstances, ask you to pay by bank transfer outside the platform.
- Check for the verified badge on the client's profile and read their past reviews.
- Be wary of anyone who pushes to move to WhatsApp or Telegram before a booking is confirmed.
- Don't send private photos, a copy of your ID or your bank details in a chat.
- If an offer seems too good to be true, like a very high fee for a simple job with no audition, slow down and check.
- Don't give in to pressure. Serious clients give you time to read the contract and ask questions.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you have every right to say no and end the conversation at any time.
Before a shoot
Take a few minutes to check things before you confirm any date; it can save you a lot of trouble.
- Make sure the booking is confirmed on the platform and the fee has been paid and is being held.
- Read the e-contract carefully, especially the usage rights and scope of work.
- Look up the shoot address and make sure it's a recognisable workplace, such as a studio or business premises.
- Tell a family member or a friend you trust where and when the shoot is.
- If you're under 18, your parent or guardian must give consent and come with you.
During a shoot
- You're entitled to bring a companion to the shoot.
- Stick to what's in the contract, and don't agree to major changes to the location, looks or usage without updating the contract on the platform.
- Keep your phone charged and within reach.
- If you feel unsafe, leave right away. Your safety matters more than any job.
After a shoot
- Confirm the job is done on the platform so your fee is released on time.
- Leave an honest review to help other members.
- Don't accept extra payments or ‘side jobs’ off the platform.
- If you notice your images being used beyond what was agreed, contact us; your e-contract is saved in your account.
If you suspect a scam
Don't feel embarrassed. Scammers are skilled at being convincing, and reporting them protects you and everyone else.
- Stop replying, and don't send any money, codes or photos.

- If anyone is in danger, call the police on 911 or use the Kollona Amn app.
